Did I really feel that?
On August 11th, I thought I might have felt the baby move or kick. However, the movement was so light and I just couldn't allow myself to believe that I really felt what I most likely did. So I convinced myself that it was something else and waited for a more definitive "first" movement.
On August 16th - IT HAPPENED!!! The little bambino(a) moved or kicked in my lower abdomen. It was so COOL and nothing that words can describe. This was 19.5 weeks!
On August 19th - IT HAPPENED FOR DADDY!! We were having dinner on the back deck and I felt the bambino(a) move a couple times. I told Jay he should put his hand on my belly that he "MIGHT" be able to feel the baby. He waited patiently for a minute and then we were surprised, but the little kicker caught the end of his fingers!! I questioned him to make sure he really felt it in the same place I did. This was another special moment of many to come. He felt the baby within 3 days of me!!!

MMJ!!!!!!!
We went to the My Morning Jacket concert at Red Rocks with the Berken's!!
This story begins 13 months ago when Miss Finley came into the world. Nora had scored handicapped accessible tickets to the MMJ concert because she would have been 3 days from her due date with Finley. Well, Finley decided to join us early and the Berken's were not able to go to the show. "Reluctantly" Jay and I went and saw the best show of our LIVES!!!
This year it was my pregnancy that would return the favor of great seats.... however we DIDN'T GET THEM. No matter who we spoke with or how hard we tried, no cigar. We were not allowed handicap accessible seating, even though no one was sitting there. However, we had great seats about 20 rows up. It was an amazing show!!

A moment and picture I forgot to add...
This might be one of Jay's favorite pictures because the story was so funny. This is the moment that the baby thought me a valuable lession: THE BABY WAS IN ABSOLUTE CONTROL. When we were in Breckenridge we rented bicycles and rode around town. I "slowly" rode up a hill, apparently over did it and spent 30 minutes on this bench eatting peanut butter crackers Jay ran to the gas station for and drinking a Sprite that Kaycee went to the nearby restaruant to get me. I think I scared them both.
Visit with Gram and Dzia
Gram and Dzia came to Colorado for their annual July trip. It was so fun to have them visit during the pregnancy. They got to partake in my ice cream cravings, the growing baby bump, the shopping trips with Gram, the baby and I.. we had some good quality times. Dzia even said he was here until the bambino(a) is born... but he flew home!

Our little apple...
The baby is about the size of an APPLE today, 4 inches long from crown to rump and about 2.5 ounces. The babe's legs are growing longer than the arms right now and can move all those tiny joints and limbs. It can also sense beams of light flashed through the belly.
We entitle this Ode' to Apple - Week 15
Score!
Week 14 came with a nice score of baby garb at a multi-family sale baby sale. I actually got up at 6:45am to make sure I was one of the first there. These clothes are so cute and check out those keds!!!
(most definitely a boppy cover to the rescue - ha ha)
Brissy loves being in these pictures with us!
What a proud Papa to be!
B.B. Forth of July (aka B.B.= Before Birth)
Gram and Dzia (Polish for Grandpa) Pienkowski came to visit for a couple weeks in July and joined us for the 4th. This is mid week, 13.5 weeks on the baby due date scale. The baby bump is growing... Happy Forth of July!

FIrst Trimester!! Whoa!
The first trimester went really well for us! From what I hear from others stories, I was completely lucky! I didn't have a moment of morning sickness nor was I totally exhausted. I was able to continue my normal activities including running, yoga, etc AS LONG as I had a snack close by. I was always snacking to keep the bambino(a) happy and Momma happier, but that was simple.
This trimester was also filled with surreal thoughts that we are actually on the way to extending our family and that we are old enough and mature enough to be responsible for someone else (outside of Brissy, of course, because she's the most "well loved" black lab in Fort Collins). It was also a time of joy spent with our friends/family that we love so much sharing our news...
We told all our friends in some different way or by a slip of the tongue (Jay was so excited he wanted to scream from the mountain tops), but each and every time was a special moment. What an exciting time that we will always remember!

The Berken's Announcement
Well, we can't begin this story without stating a fact... Nora did buy the pregnancy test for me! :-) This simple fact made it challenging to keep the "truth" from them, so one Saturday morning we showed up on their door step with a sign under my jacket that said "Baby on Board." Nora didn't even let us inside the house before yelling are you pregnant, are you pregnant. "No sh&t, I can't believe it"... I didn't even have a chance to unzip my jacket for them to see our sign. Finley was going to have a little buddy, whether a little boyfriend or BFF.
The Lytle's Announcement
As we traveled up to Breckenridge for a nice weekend away with Lisa and Kaycee, we contemplated how we would tell them our news! Lisa suggested that we have "roadies" on the way up... now typically I would be interested, however in my current condition (as cousin Ryan would say) that wasn't in the cards. So I graciously offered to drive. Well, the roadies never transpired and the news came out as we stopped for a nice dinner in Idaho Springs at the Brewery. Everyone ordered beers as I had a "hard time" deciding. Then I pulled out a video for them to watch - the video of my parents finding out we were pregnant!!!We told all our friends in some different way or by a slip of the tongue (Jay was so excited he wanted to scream from the mountain tops), but each and every time was a special moment. What an exciting time that we will always remember!

Baby bump or Beer bump??? You decide...
WEEK 13 - The baby bump is beginning to develop. For me it is getting BIG, but for others they think I might be gaining a beer belly. :-)
Fun shot with Stephanie Souther. This was taken the last weekend in June and her due date is August 7, 2012. We all now know that her darling baby girl came August 8th and is named Brooksley Lynn Souther.
Week 12 - Big Week
Week 12 - This was an exciting week!!!
FIRST, we were able to spread the news with all of our extended Iowa family at Rob and Tania's wedding June 23rd. This was the last official announcement before it was free game to tell anybody and everybody AND I was able to tell both Grandma O'Connell and Grandma Wacker in person! This is a rarity for us!!
SECOND, we were able to see our little peanut!! We had a 12 week ultrasound and the baby was moving and shaking. It's little arms and legs were moving all about and the peanut was flipping from side to side. The tech could bearly get her measurements done. This was such an amazing experience... Jay said "This is like watching a camp fire. I could watch this all day long!" So cute!

(This picture was taken beside the house sign my Grandpa Wacker made. He made folk art like this his entire life. He even made an operating John Deere trackor that was a mailbox and was featured in the Smithsonian.)
